Growing up in rural Ohio where local farms provide an abundant supply of fresh, wholesome produce, I learned early on that fine food had to start with fine ingredients.

I indulged my interests in cooking as I grew up, and I found myself thirsting to learn more. I was accepted into the Culinary Institute of America, but with new roots growing here in Connecticut, I decided instead to attend the Connecticut Culinary Institute in Hartford where I graduated with high honors. I received a certificate in Baking and Pastry and worked under a French pastry chef for six months. I now have seven years of experience in the food industry, including restaurants, catering, and a family-owned deli and bakery.

In June of 2007, I started the Sweet Spoon with the dream of serving the surrounding communities with elegant desserts made the way they should be: from scratch, using only the finest of ingredients.
